A chance to have your broken household items repaired by volunteers - and stop them going to landfill. A Repair Café is a pop-up event that brings people together to learn how to repair things that would otherwise be thrown away. Bring your broken items such as clothing, electrical items, or small items of furniture. As part of the Repair Café ethos, you will be encouraged to get involved in the repairs to try and give you the confidence to start your own repairs.

When you book you will be asked to select a free ticket with a repair type and a time. This is to help us manage numbers in the venue and match your repair with the repairers we have available. Please book a free ticket for each item you are bringing.  If a repair type is shown as "Unavailable" it means we don't have repairers with the relevant skills/equipment for a given session.

A quick guide to repair types:

  • General or Electrical - Repair of household appliances, power tools, toys, lamps and other simple electrics as well as crockery
  • Electronics - Repair of HiFi, games consoles, DAB radios and other electronics items
  • Textile - Repair of clothing, curtains, fabric
  • Bike Repair - Simple fixes such as punctures, brake adjustments and basic safety checks
  • Computer, Tablet and Phone - Computer, phones, tablet repair, help and advice

If a repair type is listed as Unavailable, it means we currently don’t have a specialist for that kind of repair for this session.

Please note that there are some things that we cannot repair for various reasons. These include:

  • Microwave ovens (for safety reasons)
  • Pressure washers (as we have no water fixings)

Do support Quay Arts by having something to eat or drink before or after your repair is done.
