Hear a 'modern choral classic' performed in Coventry Cathedral
Composer Matthew Coleridge conducts a performance of his "sublime" choral work, Requiem, in Coventry Cathedral, with a choir of 100 singers from all around the UK, accompanied by musicians from University of Warwick Symphony Orchestra, cello soloist Isaac Laing, and soprano soloist Suzzie Vango.
Requiem has captured the hearts of singers and listeners around the world, with it's stunning blend of flowing melodies, ecstatic harmonies and poignant cello solos. In 2024 it reached the top 50 of Classic FM's Hall of Fame poll - the second highest placing of any post-1900 choral work.
"Coleridge's music resembles the sea waves from the album's title photo. Sometimes it hugs you calmly and cradles you, other times it carries you deafeningly into the unknown. It is the prototype for sacred music of the 21st century" - Josef Horvat, Hudobny zivot magazine, Slovakia
