RESEARCH IS HOPE IN ACTION

This year's conference theme is hope. Join us for an exciting day of discussion, networking, and inspiring presentations at the Faculty of Society and Culture PGR Conference 2026. This in-person event at the Hope Street Hotel will bring together postgraduate researchers to share their research and collectively explore how the theme of 'Hope' relates to the diverse range of disciplines within our faculty. Live music, lunch and refreshments are also provided!

Ways to Get Involved:

  1. Three Minute Thesis (3MT) Competition: Enter our annual competition: Can you summarise your PhD thesis in under three minutes, and with just one PowerPoint slide? The top 6, determined by judges on the day, will go on to represent the Faculty at the University-wide 3MT Competition at the PGR Festival in May 2026. For past examples of 3MTs: Postgraduate Research Festival 2025 | Liverpool John Moores University
  2. Lightning Talk: a ten-minute talk about how your research links to the theme of 'hope'. The perfect opportunity to practise your public speaking skills in a friendly, supportive peer-led environment. Prizes will be awarded for two judges' favourites, and one 'people's choice' presentation!
  3. Attend: Don't miss the chance to connect with peers, expand your knowledge, and be part of the S&C research community.

To register for the 3MT or a Lightning Talk, please email your name, school, and a short sentence about your talk to: societyandculturepgrconference@ljmu.ac.uk
