Dead Bob

is the solo incarnation of John Wright, drummer of the long-running and legendary (now defunct) punk band NoMeansNo.

β€œLife Like” – originally a NoMeansNo track – is the title song of the first album John has released on his own. Recorded and produced deep in the wilderness of British Columbia, the album spans material written over several decades β€” and there’s plenty more tucked away in the archives…

Although mostly written and performed by John himself, he didn’t go it alone. He enlisted the help of several friends to bring the album to life:

Byron Slack (Invasives), Kristy Lee Audette (Rong), Ford Pier (Ford Pier and the Vengeance Trio, DOA, Roots Roundup, Junior Gone Wild, Rheostatics), Selina Martin, his son Aidan Wright, and his brother Rob Wright, who also contributed at the mixing desk.

As you’d expect, the songs are cohesive β€” but defy easy categorization.

Genre? Hard to pin down. But one thing is clear: this is not music to be played quietly.

For the live show, John is joined by Ford, Byron, Kristy, and longtime friend Colin MacRae (Pigment Vehicle) on bass.
