Data Analytics 2: Using R for Statistics (Online)
This one-day online course will cover the fundamentals of R as a programming language. It uses R to model data in ggplot2, including Linear Regression and non-parametric tests using data from bioprocessing operations. This course will prepare beginners on the logic, layout and grammar of using a programming language to visualise their data and determine if it proves a hypothesis.
The course will consist of two sessions:
- A morning session: 9:30-12.00
- An afternoon session of Q&A: 13.00-Open ended
Learning Outcomes:
- Use R Studio
- Understand the concepts of objects and functions
- Download a package
- Create, theme and annotate a plot with ggplot2
- Fit a line to a protein standard curve
- Subset data
- Do Nonlinear Least Squares fit

Non-attendance policy:
We run our courses with funding from UK Government Department of Science, Innovation and Technology. We waive attendance fees in full for University of Birmingham staff and students; nevertheless, these spaces are highly valuable and should be treated as such. No-shows without prior cancellation are unacceptable, waste spaces and are inconsiderate to trainers. Therefore you must ensure you have permission from your PI/line manager to attend this course and in the event that you do not attend we will charge a non-attendance fee.
