This free session will be delivered in person, at St John's Church Hall, Ivy Street, Burnley, BB10 1TB. 

This training session will support you to understand how you can practically help people who are living in poverty in your parish.

Session description:

  • Is your parish looking to increase its outreach to those who are marginalised?
  • Are you trying to become more visible in your community?
  • Do you want to help reduce poverty in your local area?

Join us for this bespoke training session where you will learn about practical tools and best practice for supporting people in poverty in your parish.

This session is for the following attendees:

  • People in parishes who are likely to encounter people experiencing poverty as part of their role, those who are involved in supporting people experiencing poverty, and those who would like to be involved. This might include clergy, leadership teams in parishes, administrators, outreach, Parish safeguarding reps, Caritas Parish Reps and Accessibility Advocates, and SVP members. 
  • It is also open to members of Lancashire Citizens and DiSAN.

This session is delivered in partnership with Resolve Poverty. Resolve Poverty is an independent, non-for-profit organisation that works in local places across the country to support anti-poverty work. Read more about their work: resolvepoverty.org/

Additional information 

  • The session runs 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. Please arrive anytime between 9:30 a.m. and 9:45 a.m.
  • There is no cost to attending the session
  • We will take regular breaks during the session
  • There will be time for questions
  • Additional resources will be provided to attendees following the session
  • There is wheelchair access to the hall and toilet is accessible
  • There is parking available on site
