The Child Poverty Strategy: One Year On – What Does It Mean for Maximising Household Incomes?

Thu 3 Dec 2026 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM GMT Online, Teams

Join Resolve Poverty for a free webinar, exploring the government’s Child Poverty Strategy one year on, what it means for local areas, and the role of local government and wider partners in translating national ambitions into meaningful action to tackle child poverty.

Drawing on Resolve Poverty's policy expertise and experience of supporting place-based approaches to tackling poverty, the session will revisit the Strategy's key commitments, consider developments since its publication and explore the opportunities and challenges for local delivery.

The webinar will also examine how the Child Poverty Strategy connects with wider place-based policy agendas, including devolution, and the importance of aligning national policy ambitions with local priorities and approaches.

Attendees will have the opportunity to hear reflections on what this means in practice and ask questions about the implications for their own local areas.

During the session, attendees will:

  • Develop an understanding of the Child Poverty Strategy's key commitments and their implications for local areas.
  • Gain insights into developments since the Strategy's publication, including progress made and areas where further action is needed.
  • Explore how national child poverty ambitions can be translated into effective local action through place-based approaches and cross-sector collaboration.
  • Consider the relationship between the Child Poverty Strategy and wider policy agendas, particularly devolution and opportunities for child-centred approaches.
  • Have the opportunity to ask questions and reflect on what the Strategy means for their own local priorities and approaches to tackling child poverty.

Additional information:

  • The session runs for one hour
  • Additional resources will also be provided to attendees following the session
  • There will be time for questions
