Lancashire Anti-Poverty Network: Having conversations about money

Tue 2 Jun 2026 10:30 AM - 11:30 AM BST Online, Microsoft Teams

Join our online interactive workshop supporting professionals to have conversations about money with households experiencing poverty.

Talking about money can feel taboo, especially when money, or lack thereof, is a significant source of stress in someone's life.

Households experiencing poverty can feel embarrassed to talk about their financial situation for fear of judgement or stigma, and professionals working on the frontline of services may not want to pry into someone's money worries. However, by not having these conversations, families and individuals are being trapped in cycles of poverty, not knowing where to turn for support. When we start to talk about money, we engage in early intervention for households in poverty, before crisis strikes.

The Lancashire Anti-Poverty Network is hosting an interactive workshop which will support professionals to start having these often tricky, but vital, conversations. The workshop will cover the principles and practicalities of having conversations about money, support resources you can use, and offer an opportunity to test your money conversation skills in a number of different scenarios.
