“hearts starve as well as bodies: Give us Bread, but give us Roses!” - James Oppenheimer
Join us for an evening celebrating poetry and food! We will think about what poetry and food have in common: nourishment, sustenance, ritual, community. They are gifts we give to one another. To share food and to share poetry are both acts of kindness, generosity, tenderness.
The night will be structured as a meal, with a starter, main course, and dessert section. During each course we will share food, read and write poetry. We will come together in community and solidarity to feed our bodies and our souls.
You are invited to bring yourselves, a poem or piece of writing you love, and a dish if you are able (though this is not a requirement, as we will also provide food).
Everyone is welcome, whether you’re a keen poet or have never written a poem before.
