Shaping a Sustainable Food City: Collaborative Workshop & Networking

Tue 23 Jun 2026 9:30 AM - 11:30 AM Sea Lanes, BN2 1BX

Join Restaurants Brighton, the University of Brighton, and SOENECS (circular economy consultants) for a morning of practical insights, industry case studies, and collaborative discussion on the future of sustainability in our local hospitality sector.

Following a highly successful, focused roundtable with local policymakers earlier this month, this larger session is designed to turn city-wide data into practical, collective action.

This morning is less about sitting through heavy presentations and much more about sharing real-world ideas, learning from each other, and discussing how we can work together to make a tangible difference.

📅 Event Details

  • When: Tuesday 23rd June | 09:30 AM – 11:30 AM (followed by networking)
  • Where: The Club House, Unit 6, Sea Lanes, Madeira Drive, Brighton
  • Who it’s for: Brighton & Hove restaurant owners, managers, hospitality professionals, and local food and drink suppliers.
  • Perks: Complimentary breakfast, tea, and coffee included!

Morning Highlights & Speakers

  • The Local Policy Angle: Sarah Dobson (Brighton & Hove City Council / UNESCO Biosphere) on supporting our local fishing fleet.
  • Food Waste Insights: Dr Kamila Walters (University of Brighton) sharing actionable interventions from the latest food waste project.
  • Industry Spotlights: Quick, real-world sustainability examples from local hospitality leaders, including Sea Lanes, Nostos, Palmito, and commercial kitchen tech insights from the Hilton Metropole.
  • Interactive Show & Tell: An opportunity for attendees to share a local supplier they champion, a food waste solution they rate, or a reusable alternative that works for them.
  • Collective Procurement Discussion: A vital conversation on how we can use our shared buying power as a city network to negotiate better rates for local organic produce, subsidised staff training, or shared reusable initiatives (like a city-wide "Brighton Cup").

Join the Conversation

We invite everyone who comes along to bring a quick example of something they already do that works, or a local supplier they love to champion.

Breakfast and hot drinks will be served on arrival from 09:30 AM, with time for networking and mingling at the end of the session.
