Alternative Comedy Workshop (Reuben Solo and Casey Filips)

Reuben Solo and Casey Filips present an alternative comedy introductory workshop - for artists who are fed up with the constraints of traditional comedy and are looking expand their potential. This workshop will focus on character, clown and sketch rather than stand up comedy.

Guided by clown techniques and their own performance experience, Reuben and Casey will help you discover your true pleasure onstage and refine your natural comic voice as a performer. They'll demonstrate their own process in creating engaging comic characters and sketches which feel both dynamic and authentic to them, and guide you in developing your own ideas.

All experience levels welcome, as well as artists working outside of comedy who are looking to broaden their creative horizons.

Space is limited to 20 people.

Casey Filips
Casey Filips is a multi-award winning alternative comedic performer from Melbourne, Australia, now based in London.
Casey's work has strong roots in clown and character work, having twice studied at Ecole Philippe Gaulier, Paris.
His debut show ‘Virtuoso’ was critically acclaimed, receiving 5 stars from major Australian publications, winning ‘Best New Show’ at the Adelaide Fringe 2024 and being awarded 'Best Comedic Performance at the Edinburgh Fringe' by the Real Chrisparkle.
Casey’s new show ‘Casey Filips: What a Character’, recently won a weekly award for ‘Best Comedy’ at the Adelaide Fringe, before playing successful seasons at MICF and Edinburgh Fringe.
He tours with Reuben regularly and is a complete idiot.

Reuben Solo
Reuben Solo is a genre bending stand-up and sketch comedian who also dabbles in character and clown work. He has won awards at home and overseas and sold out multiple tours across Europe, North America and Australia. You can see him featured in Stamptown (Netflix) and the Australian sitcom The Sonny Disposition (Stan). He has three of his own comedy specials on YouTube.
Beneath the chaos of improv and audience participation, his stage work is founded on logic, structure and clear premises. With different roots and focuses, Casey and Reuben's teaching styles perfectly compliment each other.
