Watch the forest paths and trees light up with glowing mushrooms on a fluorescent fungi foray. Discover the biofluorescent colours of mushrooms, as well as the bizarre shapes and forms they take. Biofluorescence in mushrooms comes in a full rainbow of colours, and in many cases can be a very handy ID tool.
Biofluorescence is the absorption of light at one wavelength followed by its reemission at a different wavelength. Shine the right type of UV light on the world, and it glows back at you in a vibrant display of colour.
With UV torches provided, we will venture into the darkness to witness a stunning display of biofluorescent organisms in their natural habitat. We will be exploring a wide range of plants, animals, and weather and conditions permitting, fungi.

This guided walk is suitable for anyone aged 12 years and above, all children must be accompanied by an adult. No dogs allowed. Please come prepared with warm clothing as the pace of the walk is slow. We recommend sturdy shoes as the terrain is uneven, and wearing trousers to avoid stinging nettles. Safety glasses will be provided and must be worn throughout the walk for your protection.
Please note we will not cancel the event due to rain, only if there are dangerously high winds so please come prepared accordingly. Rainfall and water enhance the experience, making for ideal conditions for a Biofluorescent night walk.

Access & Facilities
BY CAR - On entering Oban from the north on the A85, continue over the first roundabout. At the second roundabout take the third exit to double back. The Corran Halls car park is on your left hand side.When entering Oban from the south on the A816, at Argyll Square take the third exit onto Aird's Place (A85). Continue on the A85 and at the roundabout, take the second exit. The Corran Halls car park is on your left.

BY TRAIN or BUS - The nearest train station is half a mile away in Oban. Regular bus routes stop at Corran Halls.
ACCESS NOTES - The path is mostly uneven and narrow with steep slopes. There are also some wide, tarred sections of path, two kissing gates and two sections of steps near the car park.
Several of the steeper routes around the wood can be slippery especially when wet. Other than the waymarked trails, the trail entrances and paths are generally narrow. There is one additional gate if following the edge of the wood from Dunollie Castle through the field.
TOILETS - There are public toilets at Oban North Pier approximately half a mile from Corran Halls car park. There are also public toilets at Ganavan Bay, just under two miles from Corran Halls.
