Course Description

This course develops the learner’s ability in Arabic phonetics specifically for the purpose of the recitation of the Qur’an. The course is designed to cater for complete beginners in Tajweed (who can already read Qur'an) as well as those who have some previous knowledge and ability of Qur’an recitation and Tajweed.

Students will study some rules of Tajweed, and have an opportunity to implement such rules in their reading looking into the Qur’an.

Duration: 8 weeks - One hour 30 minute lesson

Level: Level 1 - Part 2.

Course Plan

Theory: Introduction to tajweed; Etiquettes of Qur’an recitation; Basmalah; Makhaarij (pronunciation) Practice: pronunciation of the Arabic Alphabet with the correct Makhaarij Memorisation: Surah al-Fatihah

Rules of Tajweed to be covered: - Meem Mushadad, Madd and Raa, Rules of stopping.

Focus on recitation, recognition of rules and implementation

Detailed Assessment at the end of the course on all the rules of Tajweed from Part One and Part Two.

This course is run onsite in a class setting at the R2R Wellbeing Centre.

Q: Who is this course for?
A: Sisters who can already read Arabic and want to improve their Qur’an recitation using Tajweed.

Q: Do I need prior knowledge of Tajweed?
A: No. The course is suitable for sisters who can read Arabic, and have basic knowledge but want to develop their Tajweed.

Q: What is the duration of the course?
A: The course runs for 8 weeks, with one lesson per week lasting 1 hour and 30 minutes.

Q: How much does the course cost?
A: The total fee is £56 for the full course.

Q: What will I learn in this course?
A: You will learn key Tajweed rules, correct pronunciation (Makhaarij), and how to apply these rules in Qur’an recitation.

Q: Will there be memorisation?
A: Yes. You will memorise short surahs throughout the course.

Q: Is there an assessment?
A: Yes. There is an assessment at the end of the course.

Q: What do I need before joining?
A: You must be able to read Arabic and have completed Beginners Arabic.

Q: Will the course be online or in person?
A: It is onsite at the Revert2Reality Wellbeing Centre.

Q: Will I get to practise during lessons?
A: Yes. Each session includes practical recitation and application of the rules learned.
