An Evening of Wisdom &
Reverence for Mother Earth

Featuring
Chiyokten Wagner & Friends

Gather beneath the beautiful Earth globe at Saint Mark's Cathedral for a powerful evening of Coast Salish storytelling, traditional song, cultural dancing, Native flute, and ceremony.  Led by W̱SÁNEĆ elder and cultural educator Chiyokten Wagner, we'll open the TERRA Exhibition together with a collective ritual honoring Mother Earth and our sacred relationship with the living world.

Through ancestral teachings, music and prayer, Chiyokten & Friends will invite us into Indigenous worldviews that recognize the deep interconnectedness of all life. We'll hear stories of the Salish Sea, learn about ongoing Water Protection efforts, and reflect on our responsibility to care for the lands, waters, and generations to come.

WHAT TO EXPECT

This is more than a cultural presentation. It's an invitation to listen deeply, participate, and renew our relationship with the Earth. Chiyokten will guide us through traditional storytelling, Native flute, song, cultural dancing, and moments of shared ceremony. The monumental TERRA globe will be lowered at special moments, allowing participants to reach out and touch the image of our planetary home.

Gathered in a circle beneath Mother Earth, we'll reflect on ancient teachings, the sacredness of water, and our collective responsibility to protect the living world.  Come with an open heart, a listening spirit, and a willingness to engage.

ABOUT CHIYOKTEN

Paul Chiyokten Wagner is a member of the W̱SÁNEĆ (Saanich) Nation, an award-winning Native flutist, traditional Coast Salish storyteller, cultural educator, and founder of Protectors of the Salish Sea, an Indigenous-led organization dedicated to protecting and restoring the region's waters, forests, wildlife, and sacred ecosystems. For decades, Chiyokten has shared ancestral teachings through music, storytelling, ceremony, and environmental advocacy. His work calls for renewed relationships of reciprocity with the natural world, honoring the interconnectedness of all living beings and our responsibility to future generations.

EVENT BY DONATION

Please RSVP through the button on the right. We suggest a $20 donation to cover the hard costs of the evening, and to provide these culture tenders with a stipend for their spaceholding and beautymaking. Thank you for your gifts!

ABOUT TERRA

A giant 24' NASA globe is being hung from the ceiling of St. Mark's Cathedral again for all to experience!  Rotating, internally lit, and tilted on axis, this cutting edge installation evokes what astronauts call the "Overview Effect." It's quite the sight to behold, and radically awe-inspiring for all ages... Invite your friends! Set against the backdrop of St. Mark's massive gothic architecture, this gigantic Orbis Globe is truly magnificent. But the exhibition isn't just for your viewing pleasure: Upon entering the Cathedral you'll be immersed in a rolling soundscape of introspective nature sounds, Gregorian chanting, and soothing multicultural music. Lowered daily, you can also get up on stage to touch the globe as it spins! Invite your friends & family!!!
