Guided Walk @ Barrowford

Come join us on the 2nd July for a guided walk around Barrowford and Roughlee.

Event Description: Join us for a 5-mile walk starting from Pendle Heritage Centre. Beginning in Barrowford, the walk heads out past Higherford Mill towards Water Meetings. The route then crosses farmland towards Blacko Foot, before joining the road into Roughlee. After leaving Roughlee, the route then takes a slight incline up to Noggarth Top, providing excellent views of Pendle Hill on the way. Heading downhill through farmland, we return into Barrowford and through Barrowford Memorial Park before continuing past Pendle Heritage Centre to the car park.

Location: We will be meeting outside the Pendle Heritage Centre, Colne Rd, Barrowford, Burnley BB9 6JQ. The what3words location is mows.panoramic.gain and grid reference 53.853968 , -2.2111509.  We will be setting off promptly at 10am and will finish by at the latest of 1:30pm.

Difficulty:  This walk will take approximately 3 hrs and moderately difficult with some sections of stairs and incline. We will break to take photos and talk about key sites. Some fields (a little boggy after rainfall) some roads (mostly quiet or with pavements), lots of well-maintained pathways. Slight incline to Noggarth Hill. Due to live stock in fields we are asking for no dogs.

What to bring: Please wear appropriate clothing for the weather, as well as suitable footwear like walking boots, walking trainers, or wellies. To help reduce the risk of bites, cuts and stings we also ask attendees to wear long sleeved tops and trousers. Please also bring refreshments such as water, and any snacks, we will stop for lunch around half way, assuming the weather is good.
