Guided Walk @ Burnley

Come join us on the 14th October for a guided walk following the Calder and Brun rivers in Burnley.

Event Description: Join us for a 7.7-mile walk starting from Riverside car park, Towneley Park. From there, we will head out to the villages of Hurstwood and Worsthorne. We will then join Swinden Water and follow it to Heasandford. From here, we will join the Leeds Liverpool canal and follow the Straight Mile and then head back towards Towneley Park.

Location: We will be meeting at Riverside car park (Rotunda cafe), Towneley Park BB11 3RQ. The what3words location is reason.export.lace and grid reference SD 85764 31280. We will be setting off promptly at 10am and will finish by approximately 3pm. It is pay and display at Riverside car park, costing £2 for the day.

Difficulty:  This walk will take approximately 5 hrs and moderately difficult with some sections of steps, incline and a set of stepping stones. Footpaths, farmland and woodland tracks can be wet under foot.

What to bring: Please wear appropriate clothing for the weather, as well as suitable footwear such as walking boots, walking trainers, or wellies. To help reduce the risk of bites, cuts and stings, we also ask attendees to wear long sleeved tops and trousers. Please also bring a packed lunch as we will stop to eat along the way.

Facilities: Please note there are toilet facilities at the riverside car park in Towneley Park, Worsthorne village centre, and at The Boathouse by the play area in Thompson Park.
