Yiddish music has a remarkable ability to be both deeply moving and unexpectedly joyful, and Jordan Wax is well suited to introducing audiences old and young to this tradition. Jordan is a singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist based in New Mexico. Drawing on the rich legacy of Yiddish song and klezmer music, his performances honor the Ashkenazi musical heritage with a fresh, contemporary artistic voice. His acclaimed album,The The Heart Deciphers (Taytsh), showcases original Yiddish songs that blend traditional influences with modern sensibilities. Through his singing, instrumental skill, and deep engagement with Yiddish culture, Jordan helps to keep this vibrant language and music relevant for new generations. When he is not performing his beloved Yiddish songs, Jordan works with traditional New Mexico musicians as a member of the acclaimed New Mexican string band, Lone Piñon.
