Magdalena Ensemble:"Reels & Riddles: Music of the British Isles"

Magdalena is thrilled to present their program, Reels & Riddles: Music of the British Isles. With musicians trained in both folk tradition and historical performance, Magdalena reimagines English, Scottish, and Irish repertoire, from touching ballads to lively country dances, through a distinctive blend of period instruments and folkloric sensibilities. Enjoy a rich program of beloved classics and underperformed gems that highlights both the roots and continuing evolution of Celtic music.

Magdalena is a self-directed collective of early, new, and folk music specialists based on the US east coast. Through immersive storytelling, genre expansion, and interdisciplinary endeavors, Magdalena strives to make period music accessible and enjoyable to all, regardless of age or background. This concert will be performed by Mira Fu-En Huang (voice & percussion), Cole Manel (plectrum instruments), Cameron Welke (plucked strings & percussion), and Niccolo Seligmann (bowed strings).
