North East Accessible Cycling Conference

We are delighted to announce the first North East Accessible Cycling Conference, jointly hosted by the North East Mayoral Strategic Authority, Rise, and Wheels For All to be held at the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art in Gateshead.

Together we want to ensure that the North East region offers every opportunity for everyone to cycle.

This free event will bring together partners with lived experience and from active travel, leisure, social care and public health – all with an aim to showcase how users with disabilities and/or long-term health conditions can continue to be active through cycling.

Hear about good practice, the need for such provision across the region and get involved with workshops to create more inclusive opportunities for the North East.

If you’re passionate about more people being active through cycling, then this is the event for you.

The event

Morning: The event will be opened by Chris Boardman CBE and senior representatives from accessible cycling across the region. Join cross-sector conversations exploring how we can remove barriers to cycling and create lasting, inclusive access across the region.

Lunch: Food and refreshments will be provided at the event (please indicate your dietary requirements at checkout).

Afternoon: Experience active cycling for yourself and try out adapted cycles outside the Baltic.

The venue

Baltic is located on the Quayside in Gateshead, a 10-15 minute walk from Gateshead Town Centre, or a 15-20 min walk from Newcastle city centre or Newcastle train station. Baltic is accessible for pedestrians and cyclists from the Newcastle Quayside over the Gateshead Millennium Bridge. Cycle Parking is available outside of the building in Baltic Square.
