Description
“Without a good heart one cannot receive the Torah.”
~ Rebbe Tzvi Elimelech Spira of Dinov
Between Passover and Shavuot we count 49 days. What is the significance of the number 49? According to the hasidic rebbe Tzvi Elimelech Spira of Dinov, building on a teaching from Rabbi Yochanan in Pirkei Avot 2:9, the term lev tov (“a good heart”) is equivalent to the number 49 in gematria (Hebrew numerology). Rebbe Tzvi Elimelech teaches that we count 49 days to Shavuot because “Without a good heart one cannot receive the Torah.” With this intention in mind, Ritualwell will offer 49 days of short teachings, reflection prompts, and inspiration for your Omer journey sent to your inbox. Join us in practices to cultivate a good heart in preparation to receive the Torah on Shavuot.
