Honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy by joining Riverdale Y in building a more compassionate and equitable world. Together, we’ll address food insecurity, foster social connections, and strengthen community bonds.
Our Goals
- $54,000 raised to empower community action.
- 1,000 volunteers mobilized.

Event Highlights
January 1–19: Prepare for Service
- 54 Miles to Impact Art Exhibit: Create a collaborative art installation inspired by Dr. King's 54-mile march from Selma to Montgomery, featuring community contributions and reflections. The installation will be displayed at the Riverdale Y from January 19 to January 26 and available digitally.
- Contribute in person, via email to anyashina@riverdaley.org, or through Padlet [here] by January 17. Additional submissions can be made on January 20. Exhibit runs from January 19 to January 26.
January 19: Blood Drive
- Time: 9 AM–4 PM
- Location: Multi-Purpose Room (MPR), Riverdale Y
- Save lives by donating blood in partnership with the New York Blood Center. Sign up here.
January 20: Day of Service
- Meal Packing: Help fight global hunger with Rise Against Hunger.
- Hygiene Kits: Support the vulnerable in our local community.
- Art Exhibit: Add your voice to our '54 Miles' interactive community project—share your drawings, reflections, and messages of justice to create a shared journey toward equality.
