Join Chatfield State Park and Colorado Parks & Wildlife for a night of stargazing with telescopes, where live music meets the cosmos at the Stellar Lounge. Live space music provided by the Rocky Mountain Synthesizer Meet.

⚠️ EVENT IS FREE BUT PARK PASS REQUIRED

PLEASE RSVP as this event is subject to cloud cover and weather. By RSVPing we can send you a notification if we have to postpone due to clouds or weather. In case of weather, this event will be moved to July 25th.

STARGAZING

Telescopes will be provided by the Red Rocks Community College Astronomy Club and will be setup within easy walking distance of parking near the pavilion. You are also free to bring your own telescopes or high-powered binoculars. 

Essential Info & Viewing Etiquette

  1. Only lamps with red lights. No white lights.
  2. Bring your own chairs, pads, cots, blankets.
  3. Bring your own food and water.
  4. Leave pets at home.
  5. Look through but don't touch the telescopes. Let the Astronomers do the driving.

MUSICAL PERFORMANCE

This event will feature an original improvised ambient musical performance by Mark Mosherfounder of Rocky Mountain Synthesizer Meet and the Sonic Encounters Podcast.  Mark is a Composer, Recording Artist, Sound Designer, and Multimedia Artist based in Boulder, CO. Mark has performed at concerts and festivals locally and nationwide. He has been invited to perform as a special guest for the City of Denver Buell Theater Balcony Series, the CU Jazz Studies and Music Technology programs, the Ableton University Tour, and for the Bob Moog Foundation in Asheville. He is a skilled Sound Designer having freelanced with the Ableton Berlin sound team providing MPE sounds for the core library for Live 11 & 12 and the Push 3 Standalone.

LOCATION

Event will be at the Chatfield State Park RC Field near the pavilion. There is parking near the pavilion and bathrooms on site. See map below.
