Room to Run is now viewed as one of the most iconic and "MUST DO" events in the North-East Scotland running calendar. We have a nice a easy 5k for those looking for a target if part of the Jog Scotland C25K programme up to one of the TOUGHEST half marathon course for those looking for something new and to push themselves that little bit further.
The Half and the 10k routes are a mix of trail and tarmac based running and route maps are available on Strava for those to look at the routs in more detail - links are provided on the www.roomtorun.uk website.
For those that at the early stages of their running or just looking for a bit of fun then we have the great fun 5k and the Wee Shortie kids fun races for those of all ages and abilities.
All the races start in Huntly's historic town square, go through the arch of the Simpson Building and follow the beautiful tree lined avenue past the ancient Huntly Castle, remarkable for its splendid architecture.
Routes cross the Deveron River and up the long picturesque drive up to the Castle Hotel, thereafter continuing along Marquis Drive. At the end of Marquis Drive, the 10k and the Half continues up and around the Bin Forest with the 5k returning along the Jubilee footpath towards the town.
The Half and 10k course then head off onto well managed forest trail, taking participants into the beautiful countryside that surrounds this historic market town.
The 5k, 10k and Half races all finish back in the town square where participants will be cheered on by many family, friends and supporters as they cross the finish line.
Before and after the races, there will be over 60 local craft and food stands celebrating the food and farming heritage of the area as part of the Huntly Hairst Festival. This year's festival poses to even bigger and better than before with even more stalls, taste sensations
