A fun and festive project! These star ornaments are created by weaving strips of fabric together, add some string and they are perfect to decorate your home or Christmas tree, or even give as a gift.

These ornaments are made using a small amount of fabric and require no sewing so they make for a great accessible project to recreate again at home after the workshop. Strips are cut to precise measurements for this project. The strips are then folded at different angles to create the woven star shapes.

This workshop is led by WhatVickiMade. Vicki has taught herself to sew over the last 10 years gaining experience with a wide range of different types of garments, as well as quilting over recent years. She found her love of sewing through being able to sew for her children, but also as it has helped her find a love for her own body. She feels liberated by her ability to sew as the skill provides many benefits, sustainability, self expression, mental well being and no longer being restricted by ready to wear fashion. Vicki’s favourite things to make are shirts and quilted garments as she loves all the intricate details. Vicki was also the Semi-finalist on the Great British Sewing Bee 2023.

Creative Calculations are a series of creative sessions for adults aged 19+ which will support your confidence with numbers, shapes and general maths skills.

Creative Calculations sessions are managed by Rooted Arts CIC, supported as Multiply Champions through Lincolnshire County Council and using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England. The project is also supported by Voluntary Centre Services as part of their Moorland Community Development Project, and Bishop Grosseteste University who manage Ermine Library, with funding from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund via City of Lincoln Council.
