Sunset bat walk at Rowden Park

Join us for a fascinating sunset bat walk through Rowden Park, a hidden gem of marvellous meadows near the centre of Chippenham!

The event will begin promptly at 6.45pm with a short talk - learn what makes bats so unique and special, why they need our help in the UK and how to use a bat detector. 

We’ll then lead a guided walk through the meadows at dusk with handheld bat detectors. We’ll stop and marvel as the different bat species emerge from their roots to feed and we may even spot other nocturnal wildlife!

Logistics

Once your ticket is booked you will be sent details of where to meet up, including where to park if you are travelling by car. You will need to wear suitable footwear and clothing to be outside at night walking through meadows, and bring a torch as we will be walking through unlit countryside. We will walk on a mix of paved paths and rough grassland and the ground is uneven in places.

We will let attendees know at least 24 hours in advance if the event is rescheduled due to rain or high wind, as this can prevent bats flying and feeding.

Booking a ticket

Each ticket is £5 and payment for this event is cash only, payable at the beginning of the event to the organiser. Booking a ticket is essential as numbers are limited for health and safety reasons and to ensure everyone gets to use a bat detector. 

If you have booked a ticket and are unable to attend, please let us know as soon as possible so we can offer your place to other people on the waitlist.

All proceeds from the tickets go to Wiltshire Bat Group to support their amazing conservation work to protect bats and educate the public.
