Sunset bat walk at Monkton Park
Sunset bat walk at Monkton Park
Join us for a fascinating sunset bat walk through Monkton Park to celebrate Eco-Future Fest!
This event will begin promptly at 9pm with a short talk - learn what makes our native bats so special, why they need our help and how to use a bat detector. As the sun sets we'll lead a guided walk, stopping to marvel as the different bat species emerge, hopefully spotting one of the rarer species of bat in the UK! The walk will last about an hour and will finish in darkness.
Logistics
Once your ticket is booked you will be sent details of where to meet up. You will need to wear suitable footwear and clothing to be outside at night walking through a park, including a torch as we will be walking through unlit areas. We will walk on a mix of rough grass, paved paths and mud paths with some uneven and steep ground.
We will let attendees know at least 24 hours in advance if the event is rescheduled due to rain or high wind that prevents bats flying.
Booking a ticket
Booking a ticket is essential as numbers are limited for health and safety reasons, and to ensure everyone gets to use a bat detector. We welcome donations at checkout to support the work of Rooted Chippenham that benefits our community.
