Sunset bat walk at Pewsham Locks

Join us for a fascinating sunset bat walk along Pewsham Locks!

This event will begin promptly at 6.30pm with a 20 minute walk from the car parking location to the canal. Once at the canal we will pause to give a short talk about the wonderful world of bats - learn what makes our native bats so special, why they need our help and how to use a bat detector. As the sun sets we'll lead a guided walk along the canal, stopping to marvel as the different bat species emerge! The bat walk will last about 80 minutes and will finish back at the car parking area.

Logistics

Once your ticket is booked you will be sent details of where to meet up. You will need to wear suitable footwear and clothing to be outside at night walking along a canal, including a torch as we will be walking in an unlit area. We will walk on a gravel paths with some uneven ground.

We will let attendees know at least 24 hours in advance if the event is rescheduled due to rain or high wind that prevents bats flying.

Booking a ticket

Booking a ticket is essential as numbers are limited for health and safety reasons, and to ensure everyone gets to use a bat detector.

We ask that you donate what you can afford for this event to support the work of Rooted Chippenham CIC in our community - we suggest £5 per ticket but any amount you're happy to give is greatly appreciated.

Cancellations and refunds

Please only book tickets if you definitely plan to attend this event, all donations are non-refundable. If you need to cancel a ticket, please let us know at least 24 hours before the event so we have the chance to offer it to our waiting list.

Rooted Chippenham bring you this event in association with the Wilts and Berks Canal Trust, and it is led entirely by volunteers giving their time for free.
