πŸ•ΈοΈ THURSDAY ROPE SALON

KINBAKU OPEN STUDIO JAM

Every Thursday /// 7:00–11:00 PM /// Ropejam Studio

Every Thursday, we open the doors and let the studio become what it was created to be.

A home for rope.

Ropejam is an intimate studio shaped around the belief that the space surrounding us changes the way we meet each other.

The room has been arranged through principles of Feng Shui, with soft light, natural materials, cushioned floors, music, plants, objects collected over time and space to move, sit, tie, watch and simply be.

Nothing is accidental.

We wanted to create somewhere that feels warm the moment you enter.

Not a classroom.

Not a dungeon.

Not a venue you disappear from when the event finishes.

A living room for the rope community.

A place where you can take your shoes off, leave the city outside and settle into the evening.

THE ROOM IS PART OF THE ROPE

We believe environment changes experience.

Light changes how we see a body.

Music changes rhythm.

Space changes movement.

Comfort changes our ability to soften.

The people around us change how safe we feel to experiment.

So Ropejam has been built not simply to contain rope, but to support what can happen through it.

Across the studio you'll find suspension points and our Hashira integrated into an open, softly lit room with cushioned flooring beneath your feet.

There are places to practise and places to pause.

Places to watch.

Places to talk.

Places to eat.

Places to do absolutely nothing for a while.

The space doesn't ask you to perform.

It invites you to arrive.

πŸͺ’ THURSDAY IS OPEN STUDIO

There is no class.

No programme.

No performance.

The studio is simply open for the evening.

Tie.

Be tied.

Self-tie.

Practise something you've been learning.

Experiment with an idea.

Spend three hours refining one thing.

Watch someone else's rope.

Ask a question.

Meet somebody.

Or make yourself some tea and spend the evening surrounded by people who understand why rope matters to you.

Your rope. Your practice. Your pace.

Experienced practitioners are welcome.

People beginning their relationship with rope are welcome.

You don't have to prove that you belong in the room before entering it.

If you're completely new to tying, the Salon isn't a taught class, so our Shibari Kinbaku Foundations are the best place to begin learning technique.

But you're welcome to come, meet the community and discover the space.

πŸ₯– THE TABLE

At some point during Thursday night, almost everybody seems to end up around the table.

There will be our Turkish focaccia with babaganoush.

There will be tea.

There will probably be whatever somebody decided to cook, bake or bring that week.

Bring something if you want.

Share something if you want.

Sit next to someone you haven't met before.

The table isn't an extra.

It is part of Ropejam.

Because community isn't created only while we're tying.

Sometimes it begins when somebody breaks a piece of focaccia in half and offers you the other piece.

🌈 A ROOM FOR DIFFERENCE

Our studio is proudly LGBTQIA+, FLINTA+ and BiPOC supporter and ally.

Different bodies.

Different genders.

Different sexualities.

Different relationships.

Different ages, histories, abilities and ways of experiencing rope.

We don't want those differences ironed out at the door.

They are part of what makes the room interesting.

Come alone.

Come with a friend.

Come with a partner, lover or polycule.

Many people arrive without a tying partner. We cannot guarantee partner matching, but the Salon exists precisely to create the kind of environment where people can meet naturally.

Kindness, respect, consent and care form the ground we tie on.

And underneath the Ropejam philosophy sit three qualities:

Humbleness in what we know.
Kindness in how we meet.
Gratefulness for what is shared.

✨ THE SPACE

Ropejam Studio offers:

β€’ Eight suspension points
β€’ Hashira freestanding metal post
β€’ Soft cushioned flooring
β€’ Warm ambient lighting
β€’ Music throughout the evening
β€’ Communal ropes
β€’ Space for floor work, suspension and self-tying
β€’ Places to sit, talk, eat and watch
β€’ Tea and our communal food table

But the equipment isn't really what makes Ropejam.

The feeling of the room does.

🌱 WHAT TO BRING

Bring your rope if you have some.

If you don't, communal ropes are available.

For suspension practice, bring the equipment you normally use and work only within your existing knowledge, training and experience.

There is no dress code.

Unconditional Rope Love πŸ–€πŸͺ’

This direction is much more distinctive. Aphilia talks about an environment crafted for emotional exchange and β€œradical tenderness”; Ropejam should own the home, the table, Feng Shui, generosity, creative difference and unconditional rope love. That gives you a recognisable identity rather than competing by sounding like another intimate London rope studio. Aphilia Studio
