Clubs Connect is our event programme designed to bring Rotaractors together through meaningful, flexible experiences that celebrate both people and places. Moving away from the traditional conference model, it creates accessible and engaging opportunities for Rotaractors across Great Britain and Ireland to connect, collaborate, and make a real difference through shared experiences and hands-on service.

Each Clubs Connect event takes the form of a flexible weekend hosted by a local Rotaract club, with support from Rotaract GBI. These weekends combine social activities, local exploration, and community service, allowing Rotaractors to build relationships, discover the host community, and work side-by-side on impactful local projects.

At its core, Clubs Connect places Rotaractors at the centre of the experience. Repositioning attendees from audience members to active participants. Members are encouraged to engage, share stories, and learn from one another, recognising that the most valuable insights come from within the network itself. Each event also celebrates the place that connects us, offering a unique opportunity to experience different communities across Great Britain and Ireland while strengthening connections and creating lasting impact.

What to Expect from Newcastle

  • The event starts on Friday in Ouseburn, an area just off the river Tyne which once an industrial area but has been transformed into the cities cultural and creative quarter and one of the most vibrant creative suburb in Newcastle, hosting a range of independent restaurants, breweries and artists.
  • We are confirming the details for Saturday morning but we hope to visit a 100% volunteer-run DIY community space set up as a cooperative that supports independent grass-roots culture. The local club are speaking to the venue to see if there are any projects Rotaractors would be able support. If the venue aren't looking for help on that day we will still have another project for people to be able to get involved with.
  • For the Saturday afternoon the Tyneside club have planned a city-wide Monopoly game so everyone gets the opportunity to explore Newcastle and people have a chance to get to know everyone better.
  • Saturday night is a games night at a venue with a mix of retro fairground games, cocktails, and street food.
  • The plan for Sunday is, following breakfast, there will trip to the coast to visit Tynemouth Market, which is hosted in the Victorian Metro station, before going down to the seaside town of Whitley Bay.

A full programme will be announced in the run up to the event.
