The London Heart Starters Campaign is bringing more life-saving defibrillators to the city – in the areas where they are needed most.

Everyone deserves the chance to live.

Crews at London Ambulance Service responded to more than 12,200 cardiac arrests last year and fewer than one in 10 people survived.

A cardiac arrest happens when a person’s heart suddenly stops beating, cutting off blood and oxygen to the body.

A shock from a defibrillator can restore a normal heart rhythm to someone who is in cardiac arrest. Chest compressions – or CPR – can help keep blood and oxygen pumping to the brain and other vital organs.

When this is done in the crucial minutes before an ambulance arrives, it can more than double a person’s chances of survival.

Research by the Rotary Club of Kew Gardens found that 19 (of 35) defibrillators in Kew are not registered with The Circuit register for emergency services. We have also established that the vast majority of defibrillators are not available 24/7 as they are located within premises with limited opening hours.

Together, we can change this.

In a huge boon for the local area, Kew Community Trust has recently installed a new, publicly and 24/7 available, defibrillator on the wall of St Luke's Church.

Defibrillators are safe and simple to use and the more we install in public places, the more lives will be saved.

After a sold-out event in April, the London Ambulance Service has agreed to run another day of training for Kew.

Join us on 28 May for your chance to learn how to save a life.

The London Ambulance Service will teach you how to do CPR and use a defibrillator to help someone.

Training will be provided in short, 15-minute bursts, where you will have the opportunity to learn, practice, and ask questions.

Walk-ins are welcomed on the day, book here to secure a specific time!
