Description
John Steed, born in Helford, recounts his efforts to save the crews of ships captured by Somali Pirates and then abandoned because their ships were uninsured or their countries gave up on them. Steed and his team eventually rescued 191 abandoned seafarers with a mix of traditional hostage negotiation, good luck and daring do which nearly cost him his own life at the outset of the mission.
Book for the Talk and Supper - Fish Pie or Vegetable Pie.
The talk will start at 7.45 so please arrive from 6pm and give yourself plenty of time to eat. The talk itself should be around 45 minutes long with a break either during the talk so people can re-charge their glasses or prior to questions from the floor. We would expect the talk and questions to finish around 21.00 followed by an opportunity to socialise.
