Formal Black Tie Dinner and speeches to mark the day on which Britain triumphed in the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805. This historic marine conflict was fought off the Cape of Trafalgar, offshore from Cadiz, Spain, with forces from Spain and France clashing with Britain.

The speaker is Commander Richard (Richie) Turrell from RNAS Culdrose

Commander Richard (Richie) Turrell joined the Royal Navy in 1992 as a Naval Airman with early seagoing assignments in aircraft carriers.

He undertook shore assignments at RNAS Culdrose including as XO at the Royal Navy School of Flight Deck Operations, then in Navy Command planning future flight deck operations for the new Aircraft Carriers.

Promoted in 2017 he was Senior Flight Commander RFA Argus and then to HMS Queen Elizabeth as FDO guiding her through sea and first of class flying trials before deployment on Operation Fortis, the first operational deployment of the UK Carrier Strike Group since 2011

Lt Cdr Turrell was selected in 2021 for Command of 1700 NAS. He was promoted Commander in 2023 and became Second In Command and Executive Officer of HMS Seahawk / RNAS Culdrose in September 2024.

Richard has two boys and lives with his partner Sarah in Angarrack, West Cornwall, Oliver 21 and Henry 14; and enjoys surfing, sea swimming
