ARINS: My Identity - Ben Lowry

The next installment in the ARINS: My Identity series will take place at lunchtime on Monday, 29 April 2024. Ben Lowry will be interviewed by Colin Graham (Maynooth University), followed by a Q&A.

Ben Lowry has been editor of the News Letter since October 2021. Born in America, his family moved back to Northern Ireland in the 1970s when Ben was aged two. He qualified as a barrister in London in the 1990s, and began his career in journalism at News International in 1996, working on the emerging websites of The Sun and The Times. Ben returned to Northern Ireland, working at the Belfast Telegraph from 2000, as a sub-editor, then reporter, and finally Saturday News Letter. He joined the News Letter as news editor in 2007. He was appointed deputy editor in 2013.

Colin Graham is Professor English and formerly Dean of the Faculty of Arts at Maynooth University. His books include Northern Ireland: Thirty Years of Photography, Deconstructing Ireland and Ideologies of Epic. He was editor of The Irish Review from 2004 to 2020. During the Brexit negotiations he created the Twitter account @borderirish and wrote the book I am the Border, so I am, published by HarperCollins.
