Tour description Blink and you’ll miss it! Tucked in-between St Ann’s Church and the Mansion House is the Royal Irish Academy. On this guided tour, visitors will learn about the architecture and ownership of this late-eighteenth century Georgian townhouse, and the families who called it home. We will discover more about the Academy's early beginnings and some of the prominent men and women connected to it. We will also delve into the print and archival collections of the Royal Irish Academy Library – home of the sixth century Irish manuscript The Cathach of St Colmcille, and finish by discussing the structure, governance and work of the Academy today. Booking and tour information The tour duration is one hour. Tickets are free, but must be booked in advance. If you have any queries or are unable to make the tour, please email library@ria.ie to cancel your ticket so that we may offer it to another patron.
