A facilitated conversation between Archbishop Eamon Martin and Archbishop John McDowell about how religion influences Irish identity.
A facilitated conversation between Archbishop Eamon Martin and Archbishop John McDowell about the way in which religion influences Irish identity and how we might usefully bridge gaps in communities. It will be an opportunity to hear from the religious leaders of the two most prominent Northern communities about their views on progress made since the Good Friday Agreement and how further progress can be achieved in the future.
The event will be facilitated by Deirdre Heenan (Director of ILEX the Derry~Londonderry urban regeneration company and a school governor in two Derry schools, Foyle College and St Patrick's Pennyburn. Former Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Ulster University and a former Provost of the University's Coleraine and Magee campuses. Prof Heenan was also appointed to the Council of State by the President of Ireland, Michael D. Higgins in 2012.).
Introductory remarks will be made by Gerry McKenna, MRIA, the Chair of the North South Standing Committee and will outline RIA work in the North and our commitment to furthering North-South collaboration. Closing remarks will be made by an ARINS representative and will give a brief overviews of upcoming ARINS activities.
Registration will take place at 7pm with an event start of 7.30pm. We will finish at approximately 9pm at which point some refreshments will be served.
This event is a collaboration of the Royal Irish Academy, Benburb Priory, the ARINS Project and the Keough-Naughton Institute for Irish Studies at the University of Notre Dame.
