Launch of the PublishOA Landscape report and publishing networking event

PublishOA invites you to join us to celebrate the publication of the Landscape report on scholarly publishing in Ireland and a chance to discuss the research and the future of scholarly publishing. Refreshments will be served.  

The report

The purpose of the landscape report was to map scholarly publishing on the island of Ireland. It documents publishers on the island and assesses the readiness of Irish scholarly publishers to transition to Open Access (OA) publishing. It also examines their knowledge of the practices, needs, challenges and opportunities of Diamond Open Access (DOA). The report can be read/downloaded here.

PublishOA

The report is a deliverable of the PublishOA project, co-led by the Royal Irish Academy (RIA) and Trinity College Dublin’s Long Room Hub (TLRH), which aimed to evaluate the feasibility of establishing a centralised, publicly owned Diamond Open Access (OA) publishing platform for Irish scholarly publishing. Diamond OA refers to a model where journals and platforms do not charge fees to authors or readers.

The funding for the PublishOA.ie project was approved by the National Open Research Forum (NORF) at the end of 2022, and is supported by the Higher Education Authority (HEA) and the Government of Ireland. 

NORF projects such as PublishOA.ie are funded by the Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science (DFHERIS).
