WORKSHOP FORMAT
This screen acting workshop, led by Film and Television Director Vicki Kisner, focuses on helping actors fully embody their characters and deliver bold, grounded, and authentic performances. Vicki guides participants in making strong, specific choices that bring depth and truth to their work on camera, drawing on her experience behind the lens. The workshop also explores how to effectively prepare for self-tapes, offering practical techniques to help actors stand out and increase their chances of being noticed and cast. In addition, Vicki provides insight into the experience of working as a guest actor on established shows, including how to adapt quickly, collaborate with existing casts and crews, and make the most of every opportunity on set.

BIO
Vicki Kisner is an established film and television director whose character-driven storytelling has led her to helm episodes of some of the BBC’s most prestigious returning dramas, including BBC/UKTV’s Shakespeare & Hathaway, flagship cosy crime period drama Father Brown, and police procedural Hope Street for BBC/BBC Northern Ireland and BritBox. She has also directed over 40 episodes of prime-time television across Casualty, EastEnders and Hollyoaks, as well as children’s series The Dumping Ground and The Amelia Gething Complex, where she served as lead director. Passionate about collaborating with actors, Vicki is known for drawing out emotionally authentic, truthful performances while guiding casts through complex narrative terrain with clarity and sensitivity. Her work is marked by visual flair, crafting beautiful, cinematic images that elevate each project while always serving the story. Born in Johannesburg and raised in London, Vicki brings a distinctive global perspective to her filmmaking. Her award-winning short film Sheila, shot in South Africa, screened internationally and earned multiple nominations and awards, showcasing her ability to create emotionally resonant stories in challenging environments. A graduate of the Met Film School with an MA in Fiction Directing, she was selected for Reykjavik Talent Lab, BAFTA Crew and the Directors UK & ARRI Alexa Challenge, further establishing her as a dynamic creative voice. Alongside directing, Vicki has extensive industry experience in development, having worked as a script reader for BBC Films, Film4 and Sony, and in production roles with Constance Media and Parallel Films, as well as collaborating with major studios including Warner Bros. and Paramount. She is currently developing and directing her debut feature, State of Emergency, set in South Africa. In addition, Vicki works as a coach for directors and actors, offering invaluable insight and constructive feedback to help creatives craft authentic, grounded and emotionally truthful performances rooted in real-world practice.
