WORKSHOP FORMAT
Get the chance to practice your audition skills, in person with Naomi Downham and Martin Poile, casting associate's at the National Theatre. You’ll be looking specifically at contemporary text in the morning and classical text in the afternoon. Honest feedback and notes will be given prior to a second read. Everyone will participate and observe and there will be a chance for a Q&A at the end of the day.

NAOMI'S BIO
Naomi Downham is currently Casting Associate at the National Theatre.
Her most recent work as a casting director includes The Land of the Living, Alterations, A Tupperware of Ashes, The Grapes of Wrath, The Lehman Trilogy (International Tour), Underdog: The Other Other Brontë, The House of Bernarda Alba and The Crucible (also at the Gielgud), The Ocean at the End of the Lane (UK Tour and Noël Coward) for the National Theatre; Our Cosmic Dust at the Park Theatre, Cyrano at the Traverse Theatre; Brown Boys Swim at Soho Theatre; Vardy v Rooney: The Wagatha Christie Trial at the Ambassadors; & Athena at The Yard Theatre.
As casting associate, credits include Inter Alia, The Motive and the Cue, Othello, The Corn is Green, The Normal Heart and The Ocean at the End of the Lane (also West End) for the National Theatre. Film includes A Death in the Family (short film), Death of England: Face to Face.
MARTIN'S BIO
Martin is currently a Casting Associate at the National Theatre.
Previously, he worked as Casting Associate to Rachel Sheridan Casting on a range of TV projects, including Big Boys S3 (Channel 4), Amandaland (BBC), Such Brave Girls S2 (BBC) and The Dream Lands (BBC). Prior to this, he worked in the RSC casting department between 2018-2024.
As RSC Casting Director: Othello, As You Like It, First Encounters: Romeo and Juliet, The Fair Maid of the West, Cowbois (nominated for Best Casting in Regional Theatre at CDG Awards), Falkland Sound, The Empress, First Encounters: Twelfth Night, Boundless as the Sea and Miss Littlewood (Cunard).
As RSC Casting Associate: My Neighbour Totoro (nominated for Best Casting in Theatre at CDG Awards)
Other credits include: The Misandrist (Arcola), The Dwarfs (White Bear), Felix and Fanny (Barbican), SHTF (Kandinsky).
He is a member of the Casting Directors Guild.
