WORKSHOP FORMAT

This full day workshop will focus on originating a character on screen that hasn't been performed before. Andrew will use his own screen-writing as material in the workshop. The workshop will also focus screen acting techniques, to give the actor a feel for what it's like to work on set with Andrew Cumming. Discover how to make the most of the material. How to make the most of the subtext in a scene! Discuss blocking a scene and working with the camera’s choreography. We will explore all the above through practical exercises, discussion and acting from drama scripts.

Upon request, you have the option to receive your footage after the session for no extra cost!

BIO

Andrew’s debut feature, the Paleolithic horror OUT OF DARKNESS was released in early 2024 to rave reviews and upon its US theatrical release became the most successful British debut for seven years. The film also won a BIFA for Best Breakthrough Performance and three Scottish BAFTAs including Best Film.

Recently Andrew directed three episodes of the dark comic thriller COLDWATER for ITV and Sister Pictures written by David Ireland, starring Andrew Lincoln, Indira Varma and previously he directed the opening block of SHETLAND Season 9 for BBC and three episodes of ITV’s PAYBACK for Jed Mercurio’s HTM Productions, starring Morven Christie and Peter Mullan. Other TV credits include the acclaimed thriller CLIQUE for BBC / Balloon and COLD FEET for ITV / Big Talk.

Andrew is an alumni of the National Film and Television School and was selected for Screen Daily’s prestigious Stars Of Tomorrow in 2021.
