WORKSHOP FORMAT

"Finding Your Truth on Screen" is an intensive screen acting workshop led by acclaimed film and television director Alex Browning. Designed for new and experienced actors, this masterclass unlocks authentic, naturalistic performances by blending technical precision with deep emotional connection.

Alex guides actors through three core pillars:

• Finding Emotional Truth: Accessing instinctive, authentic emotions tailored to the scene.
• Purpose in Performance: Identifying clear objectives, character arcs, and storytelling intent.
• Technical Demands: Mastering essentials like eye lines, stillness, and natural vocal clarity for professional film and TV sets.

The workshop begins by establishing personal intentions, with each actor identifying a specific "focus area" for immediate, targeted development. Through tailored re-direction and active observation, Alex fosters a collaborative space where individual performance benefits the entire cohort.

The day will conclude with a Q&A and 'in conversation' session featuring two special guest actors recently seen in prime-time BBC dramas (subject to availability).

BIO

Alex Browning is a British-Caribbean director, screenwriter, and producer. Alex has directed over eighty episodes of scripted television to date for BBC, ITV and Channel 4 including on BBC One's GRANITE HARBOUR (S2) - landing a Broadcast Hotshots nod. Alex has made several award-winning short films including DAYLIGHT RULES (BFI/SKY), starring T'Nia Miller and David Ajala, winning at international film festivals and later acquired by DUST. As a writer, Alex has been in writer's rooms with Channel 4 and Badwolf, and had an original drama in development with a major studio.

Alex draws on over fifteen years of experience ranging from directing over a hundred commercials, branded content and fashion films, and more recently being a sought after acting coach for new and experienced actors a like.
