INTERNATIONAL CASTING DIRECTOR CARLA HOOL | 4 WEEK AUDITION TECHNIQUE ONLINE INTENSIVE

WORKSHOP FORMAT

1, 8, 15 & 22 SEPT | 6:30 PM - 9:30 PM | 4 occurences
(This is a one time fee and is inclusive for all the sessions in this course)

This 4 week course covers the nuts and bolts of screen-acting auditions. Each week Carla will send you a different genre scene to prepare testing your versatility as an actor. Sides will be sent out for you to prepare 4/5 days prior to the session.  Below is week by week breakdown of how the course will play out...!

WEEK ONE: SELF TAPES FOR TV

- Having looked at your online CV, Carla will send out a selection of scenes for you to choose one from regardless of age, gender or ethnicity. You will then be asked to submit a self-tape of this scene before the workshop.

WEEK TWO: SELF TAPES FOR FILM

- Having looked at your online CV, Carla will send out a selection of scenes for you to choose one from regardless of age, gender or ethnicity. You will then be asked to submit a self-tape of this scene before the workshop.

WEEK THREE: LIVE READINGS

- Live reads workshop. This will be a live audition technique workshop where you will read live with a reader.

WEEK FOUR: CHEMISTRY READS

- Chemistry reads workshop. This will be a live audition technique workshop where you will read live with a reader in pre-assigned pairs.

CARLA HOOL'S BIO

Carla Hool is an internationally award-winning Casting Director and Producer with over two decades of experience casting major film and television productions across the United States and Latin America.

Beginning her career in Mexico before moving into major studio productions, Carla has cast acclaimed projects including Narcos, Coco, Flamin' Hot, A Million Miles Away, Emilia Pérez, Selena: The Series, Man on Fire, Apocalypto, Sin Nombre, and served as Additional Casting Director on Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

A two-time Artios Award winner, Carla has received eight Artios nominations throughout her career, winning for Coco(2016) and Emilia Pérez (2024). She has also been honoured with NALIP's Industry Pioneer Award (2019) and the Heller Award for Feature Casting Director of the Year (2022) in recognition of her outstanding contribution to the industry.

Alongside her casting work, Carla has expanded into producing projects that champion underrepresented voices and culturally authentic storytelling. Her extensive international network and cross-cultural expertise have made her one of the industry's leading advocates for diverse, multidimensional casting.

With a career dedicated to discovering exceptional talent and shaping award-winning stories, Carla continues to bridge the gap between actors and the global entertainment industry.
