BIO

Azhur directed the season finale of OUTLANDER: BLOOD OF MY BLOOD (Leftbank/Starz) and is currently directing five episodes of Season 2, including the opening block. He also directed all episodes and executive-produced AFTER THE FLOOD (Quay Street/ITV) and has returned to direct and EP on Series 2. Prior to this, Azhur directed the final block of Neil Gaiman’s ANANSI BOYS (Red/Endor/Amazon), which involved bold use of VFX and honed Azhur’s technical craft. Azhur has also directed on shows such as DR. WHO as well as directing second unit on BAGHDAD CENTRAL (C4, Euston).

Azhur’s style of filmmaking is borne out of a love of contemporary and classic cinema and he has established himself as a dedicated and imaginative filmmaker. Diversity is key to his work and he creates work that challenges the perception of the type of stories BAME filmmakers should be creating. With a love of intelligent genres, he is unafraid to write and direct projects that entertain and still have something to say. Azhur’s writing has earned a number of placements in high-profile screenwriting contests; Finalist 5th ScreenCraft Screenwriting Fellowship, Runner-up ScreenCraft Sci-Fi Screenplay Contest, and Quarter-Finalist Final Draft Big Break Contest.

After studying at the London Film School, Azhur’s short films have won a number of awards and played at festivals worldwide. His most recent science-fiction short film, MUSE, stars Paul Ready and Taj Atwal and was selected in the Official Selection at Sci-Fi London Film Festival. He’s worked in branded content having worked with clients such as Hyundai and Ford Motors and also worked in the video games industry directing motion-capture.
