This three-week intensive with Emmy-nominated Casting Director Jamie Castro focuses specifically on self-tape technique for US television, progressing from co-star auditions to guest-star material before finishing with an individual review of your own previous audition work.

Each week gives you the opportunity to submit work, receive direct feedback and apply Jamie’s coaching to your self-tape technique.

WEEK ONE — 1 OCTOBER

CO-STAR SELF-TAPES

From looking at your CV Jamie will assign each actor a co-star scene in advance to prepare and submit as a self-tape.

During the session, each tape will be watched and reviewed, with actors receiving individual feedback and direction from Jamie on their choices, performance and approach to co-star material.

WEEK TWO — 8 OCTOBER

GUEST-STAR SELF-TAPES

For the second session, Jamie will assign new guest-star material for actors to prepare and submit.

Building on the first week, Jamie will review each self-tape and provide further coaching, feedback and adjustments, with a focus on approaching guest-star auditions.

WEEK THREE — 15 OCTOBER

YOUR SELF-TAPE REVIEW

For the final session, actors will submit a self-tape from a previous professional audition of their choice.

The tapes will be watched live during the workshop, with Jamie giving individual feedback — exploring what works, what could be strengthened and how to approach similar auditions in the future.

BIO

Jamie Castro is an Emmy-nominated casting director with two decades of experience across film and television. Some of her credits include Scandal, Grey’s Anatomy, How to Get Away with Murder, Friday Night Lights, The Bucket List (directed by the late Rob Reiner), and Frost/Nixon (directed by Ron Howard). She received her Emmy nomination for her work on Netflix’s Inventing Anna and is known for her ongoing collaborations with bold, emerging directors and filmmakers in the independent space. Her recent feature, My Dead Friend Zoe, won the Narrative Spotlight Audience Award at SXSW and premiered in theaters nationwide in February 2025. Jamie has two upcoming films, Fade to Black and Go-Love-Go, slated for release this year. In addition to casting, she continues to offer audition coaching and career consultations, helping actors find clarity, confidence, and momentum on their creative path.
