BIO

Jamie Adams is a prolific Welsh writer-director known for his distinctive, actor-led approach to filmmaking and his highly collaborative, improvisational style.

Adams recently directed Only What We Carry, with Quentin Tarantino, Simon Pegg, Charlotte Gainsbourg and Sofia Boutella. Shot in just six days on the Normandy coast, the film had its world premiere at the 2026 Tribeca Festival.

He has since reunited with Quentin Tarantino for Tangled Up in Blue, which Adams writes and directs, with a cast including Kylie Minogue, Jason Isaacs, Sofia Boutella, Allison Williams and RZA. The production is being filmed in 2026.

Adams is also known for the BIFA-nominated Black Mountain Poets, as well as POSE, a James McAvoy-led thriller.

Known for creating performances through close collaboration with actors, Adams often works from a structured story framework while allowing dialogue and character moments to develop organically through improvisation. His approach makes him particularly well suited to working closely with actors on performance, character and the relationship between acting for camera and the filmmaking process.
