WORKSHOP FORMAT

This full day workshop will focus on screen acting techniques, to give the actor a feel for what it's like to work on set with Samantha Harrie. Discover how to make the most of the material. How to make the most of the subtext in a scene! Discuss blocking a scene and working with the camera’s choreography. We will explore all the above through practical exercises, discussion and acting from scripts

Upon request, you have the option to receive your footage after the session for no extra cost!

BIO

Originally from a small village in the West Midlands, Samantha went off to art college and worked as a fine artist until the storytelling bug led her to filmmaking. Her work centres around cinematic storytelling and powerful performances, encompassing drama, the blackest comedy
and complex thrillers. 

Samantha has recently directed two episodes of A WOMAN OF SUBSTANCE (C4 / The Forge Entertainment), the much anticipated, re-imagining of the best-selling novel by Barbara Taylor Bradford. The series is written by Katherine Jakeways and Roanne Bardsley, starring Brenda Blethyn and Jessica Reynolds in the title role.

Samantha’s previous TV credits include, JINXY SINGS THE BLUES a feature length episode of MCDONALD & DODDS S4, (Mammoth Screen / ITV Studios.) THE FORSYTE SAGA (Mammoth Screen / PBS Masterpiece), as Block 1 Cover Director / 2nd Unit. Her TV debut, C4 single drama, CALL IT A NIGHT, as part of the COMING UP series (C4 / Zodiak Media), garnered 4 stars reviews from the Independent, The Times and Time Out. Early

Directing credits include, returning drama for BBC1 and being featured on the BBC HOT NEW TALENT
LIST. As a Writer/Director, Samantha is currently developing two original TV series: LOVELOCKED, anthology of intertwined love stories, set in Paris and the UK, with producer Michael Eagle- Hodgson (Gangs of London) at Free Bird Pictures and BITE, with writer Nicola Mills, a revenge thriller through the gaze of female fury of the post #MeToo generation. She is also working on her first feature film, a psychological thriller, Orchestra.

Her award winning short films, include BREATHE and COPIER, screened at International Festivals, including: Edinburgh IFF, Rotterdam IFF and Cucalorus. She was also selected for the DUK, High End TV Drama Directors Programme, working on Call The Midwife, as placement Director with Neal Street productions. She is a graduate of the National Film and Television School, where she was awarded a scholarship from the David Lean Foundation for her MA in Fiction Direction. Her graduation film LOVE LETTERS was nominated for a Royal Television Society Award. Samantha is also a co-founder of Cinesisters the female directors collective.
