WORKSHOP FORMAT

Having looked at your Spotlight CV and showreel, Izzy James will send out a selection of scenes before the workshop. Please choose a scene that suits you best, regardless of gender, age or ethnicity. Chloe would like you to be as familiar with the text as possible.

Following an introduction, participants will film their self-tape with Izzy under audition conditions (with the whole group present). We have superb equipment to provide the best possible learning experience. Izzy will give each participant personalised notes, allowing them the opportunity to record a second take. This will be followed by a short tea break and an informal Q&A.

Your scenes will be recorded with broadcast-quality equipment. Upon request, you have the option to receive your footage after the session at no extra cost!

{This workshop adheres to CDG guidelines and isn't an audition}.

BIO

Izzy James is a London-based Casting Director with over four years' experience across film, theatre, short film, commercials and music videos.

She spent three and a half years working in-house at Kharmel Cochrane Casting, and continues to freelance with the company today. Her credits there include the feature films The Incomer, Echo Chamber and Everybody Wants to Fuck Me, the short films Aksil and Meat Mylk, plus No Drama - a series of five body horror shorts produced by Monkeypaw Productions and Universal Pictures. On the commercial side, she has led on several high-profile campaigns, including Adidas World Cup's Backyard Legends, streetcasting hundreds of footballers to find the campaign's three main heroes.

She has also collaborated with Rose Wicksteed on the independent feature Eleven Missing Days, and with Jinjo Casting and Goodcatch on projects including Birkenstock x NOWNESS and Children in Need x JD Sports.

As an independent Casting Director, Izzy's recent work includes MNEK's music video and the play Doomers at the Rose Lipman Building, alongside the short film High Beams. She is currently casting the short films Disco Fanny and Enter the Dance.

Having worked across the full casting process - from research and approaching talent through to auditions, recalls and self-tapes - Izzy is especially drawn to the human side of the job. In this workshop, she'll bring that same focus to the room: helping actors feel at ease, make authentic choices rooted in clear intention, and bring more of themselves into every read.

Please note: All contact or questions regarding this workshop should come through the RAIS office. Please do not contact the workshop leader directly with questions.
