WORKSHOP FORMAT

14, 21 & 28 NOV | 3 Sessions | 18:30–21:30 GMT | 10:30–13:30 PDT | 14:30–17:30 EDT

This is a one-time fee and includes all three sessions in the course.

This three-week course covers the nuts and bolts of screen acting auditions, taking actors through the process from live Zoom auditions and self-tapes to final chemistry reads.

WEEK 1: SELF-TAPE — THE INITIAL AUDITION

Actors will prepare a self-tape in advance of the workshop. During this Zoom session, the group will watch each actor’s tape together while Maddalena provides individual feedback on the performance, as well as the technical and creative choices behind the audition.

Actors will also receive guidance on how to effectively incorporate notes and adjustments in preparation for Week 2’s callback session.

This is also an opportunity to observe how other actors approach the same material, allowing participants to learn from one another’s choices and techniques.

WEEK 2: LIVE ZOOM AUDITION — THE CALLBACK

Working as if this were a real callback, actors will perform their scene live via Zoom. Maddalena will provide direction and notes, followed by the opportunity to do an additional take.

Each actor will receive specific feedback to take away and work on as they prepare for the final week.

WEEK 3: LIVE ZOOM CHEMISTRY MIX-AND-MATCH — THE FINAL CALLBACK

For the final week, actors will return to the same sides, but the audition will now move to the chemistry read stage.

Rather than working with a reader, actors will perform opposite another actor auditioning for the role, recreating the experience of a final chemistry read.

This will be a Zoom mix-and-match audition, requiring actors to think quickly, stay present, build chemistry with different scene partners, and confidently pivot based on their partner’s choices.

BIO

Maddalena Zuppetta is a casting professional with 15+ years of experience across film, television, streaming, and emerging digital formats. Her credits include BEEF (Netflix), Fallout (Amazon), Westworld (HBO), Den of Thieves: Pantera (Lionsgate), Karate Kid: Legends (Sony), and Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead (Netflix), along with work alongside some of the industry’s leading casting offices.

A member of the Casting Society of America and a graduate of USC’s School of Cinematic Arts, Maddalena brings both a casting director’s eye and an actor-focused perspective to her workshops. While craft and technique are at the heart of her work, she also believes actors benefit from understanding the business of acting — how casting works, what makes an actor stand out, how to approach auditions and self-tapes, and how to build a sustainable career.

Her workshops combine practical audition technique, thoughtful performance feedback, and candid industry insight, giving actors tools they can immediately apply both in the room and throughout their careers.
