WORKSHOP FORMAT

In this full day course, actors will learn practical strategies for approaching on-camera auditions and self-tapes. The day will startwith ice-breaking exercises that cover improvisation, and identifying an objective. In the afternoon actors will film their scene with our broadcast quality equipment and receive one on one critique from Nancy. Having looked at your Spotlight CV and Showreel, Nancy Bishop will tailor sides to specifically suit you.

{This workshop adheres to CDG guidelines and isn’t an audition}

NANCY'S BIO

Nancy Bishop, CSA, is an award-winning American-born casting director working internationally from offices in London and Prague. She is a founding member and former president of the European branch of the Casting Society of America (CSA). With more than 100 feature film and television credits, Nancy has cast actors throughout Europe, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Her collaborators include Sacha Baron Cohen on Borat Subsequent Moviefilm, for which she won a CSA Artios Award for Outstanding Achievement in Casting in a Comedy; Brad Bird on Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol; Bong Joon-ho on Snowpiercer; and Matthew Weiner on The Romanoffs. She also received an Emmy nomination for her casting work on Anne Frank: The Whole Story. A native of New England, Nancy trained as an actor and director at the University of Michigan and the National Theatre Institute, and earned a Master of Arts degree in theatre history from Northwestern University. Nancy began her career in Chicago as an actor, director, and acting teacher, and in the 1990s co-founded Strawdog Theatre and Theater Oobleck. Following the fall of the Iron Curtain, she relocated to Prague, where she produced and directed plays and launched touring productions throughout Europe. This period inspired Rex-Patriates, a mock documentary film she produced and directed.
