WORKSHOP FORMAT

With Lana Veenker, CSA, ICDA | Emmy-Nominated Casting Director & Cross-Border Strategist

9 & 11 DECEMBER | 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM
(This is a one time fee and is inclusive for all the sessions in this course)

Following the exceptional response to her previous Run at It Shouting workshops, Lana Veenker returns with a two-day intensive designed to help actors elevate their performances and take greater control of their careers.

Described by participants as inspiring, empowering, insightful, and packed with practical advice, Lana’s workshops go beyond traditional audition feedback to give actors the tools, strategies, and confidence to stand out in an increasingly competitive and international industry.

Across two highly interactive days, participants will explore how to uncover the hidden details that make a performance compelling and distinctive, then learn how to identify opportunities, research international markets, and pitch themselves strategically to casting directors.

Combining in-depth scene analysis, individual performance feedback, practical career development, and plenty of time on their feet, this masterclass offers actors an opportunity to strengthen both their craft and their approach to the business.

Drawing on more than 25 years of casting experience across the US, UK, and Europe, Lana brings a unique perspective on international opportunities, cross-border careers, and the evolving industry, including the impact of AI on actors and casting. She currently serves as President of the International Casting Directors Association (ICDA).

What Actors Are Saying

“My approach to self-taping is forever changed because of you, thank you!” — K.B.

“It was the workshop where I learnt the most from.” — A.S.

“Your script analysis was so sharp and practical and was extremely helpful hearing how you approach casting.” — S.M.

Day One: The Diamond is in the Details

How to make your self-tape stand out from the crowd by uncovering the hidden clues, subtext, and golden nuggets concealed in your sides. Participants will take a deep dive into a set of sides to see how far a scene can be fleshed out and individualized with each actor’s unique perspective on the role. Ensure you’re not just giving another generic read, but one that is rich, believable, and fully your own. We’ll end the day with live reads to make sure the information has been absorbed.

Day Two: 10-Step Pitching

We'll discuss industry trends, shooting locations, and international opportunities, then dive into exactly what I would do to set an acting target, research potential markets, discover upcoming projects, identify the right casting directors, find their contact information, prepare materials, draft a pitch, optimize messaging and follow-up, and stay on track and accountable with your goals.* In the afternoon, we'll get on our feet and perform assigned scenes to get more practice with the concepts learned on Day One. *Ideal if you can bring your own laptop to this session so you can do searches in real time.

{This masterclass adheres to CDG and CSA guidelines. It is a learning experience, not an audition or employment opportunity, and there is no guarantee of employment.}

Your scenes will be recorded with broadcast quality equipment. Upon request, you have the option to receive your footage after the session for no extra cost!
