For many Canadians, British citizenship offers more than just a second passport. It can provide a meaningful connection to your heritage, greater freedom to live and work internationally, and valuable opportunities for future generations.

Join our UK nationality specialists for a complimentary one-on-one assessment to explore your family tree and find out whether you may already be eligible for British citizenship.

Our citizenship experts will be visiting Toronto from 24 – 26 August 2026.

New laws, new opportunities

In June 2022, changes made to British nationality laws opened exciting new opportunities for individuals with ancestral links to the UK.

These changes include:

  • Expanded ancestry routes: For the first time, claims can be made through both male and female lineage, including grandparents, even without UK residence.
  • Flexible application process: Entirely online and open to eligible adults and children worldwide.

Since the law change, thousands of our clients have successfully obtained British nationality with our guidance. Explore your possibilities.

Who qualifies?

You may be eligible for British citizenship if:

  • You were born outside the UK to a British parent. This typically applies if your parent was born in the UK before 1 January 1983 or became a British citizen
  • before you were born. Some may also qualify through a UK-born grandparent under historic laws.
  • You were born in the UK before 1 January 1983; you are likely a British citizen automatically.
  • You were born in the UK on or after 1 January 1983, you’ll usually only be a citizen if one parent was a British citizen or had settled (permanent) status at the time of your birth.

Plus, learn how children under 18 can be registered as British citizens or explore immigration options like the UK Ancestry visa or High Potential Individual visa.
